Private Horace Ball, served with the 12th Training Reserve Battalion, formerly 14th (Reserve) Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, he died of sickness at the Military Hospital Cannock Chase on 27th March 1917. His was buried at Nottingham General Cemetery and his name is commemorated on the screen wall
In memoriam published 27th March 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “BALL. – In loving memory of Private Horace Ball, Sherwood Foresters, died March 27th, 1917, aged 37.
