Wilfred Lambley was born in 1893 at Sheffield, Yorkshire son of the William a gas worker and Tryphena, Lambley née Spencer of 11, Westville Street, Nottingham. William was born in 1865 at Lincoln, he died in 1918 aged 53 yrs, Tryphena Spencer was born in 1868 at Billingsbrough, Lincoln, they were married on 4th April 1888 at the Parish Church at Billingsbrough and went on to have 8 children. In 1911 the family were living at Westville Street, Nottingham, William is 44 yrs and is a gas worker he is living with his wife Tryphena 43 yrs and their 8 children, Wilfred later lived at 25, Bangor Street, Nottingham.
He was a porter at Nottingham Victoria Station.

Private Wilfred Lambley enlisted at Nottingham, he was killed in action, 10th October 1916, during the attack on the German positions at the Schwaben Redoubt, France, during the Battle of the Somme. Buried: Mill Road Cemetery, Thiepval, France. Plot 14. Row D. Grave 9. He is buried in Mill Road Cemetery, Thiepval (grave ref XIV.D.9)
Nottingham Post obituary (abridged) 30 October 1916: 'Lambley. Killed in action October 8th (sic), Private Wilfred Lambley, Sherwood Foresters, age 23, late porter at the Victoria Station. Mother, father, sisters, brothers.'
