George Eric Ward was born in 1900 the son of William a coachman and Annie Ward of 3 Cambria Grove Nottingham. William was born in 1866 at Ebberston, Yorkshire, Annie was born in 1867 at Handsworth, Birmingham, married C1892 they had 8 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood, In 1911 the family were living at 22 Greenfield Road, Scarborough, Wiliam is 45 yrs and a coachman, he is living with this wife Annie 44 yrs and their 7 children,

Private George Eric Ward enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 15th battalion Durham Light Infantry and died of his wounds on 17th April 1918 and is buried at Haringhe Military Cemetery, Belgium
