William Bernard Ward was born in 1898 at Scarborough the son of William a coachman and Annie Ward, of 3, Cambria Grove, Nottingham. William was born in 1866 Ebberston, Yorkshire Annie Ward was born in 1867 at Handsworth, Birmingham, they were married C1892 and had 8 children, sadly 1 died in infnacy or early childhood. In 1911 the family were living at 22 Greenfield Road, Scarborough William is 45 yrs and a coachman, he is living with his wife Annie 44 yrs and their 7 children,

Private William Bernard Ward enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 69048 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 28TH April 1917 and is buried at Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez, France
