Ben Hutchinson was born in 1881 at Nottingham and was the son of John Hutchinson a master builder and his first wife the late Mary Hutchinson née Burton of 29a Woodborough Road, Nottingham. His father was born in 1849 at Belton, Leicestershire he died on 16th May 1918 aged 69 yrs his mother Mary Burton was born in 1855 at Chesterfield, she died on 11th October 1909 at Nottingham aged 54 yrs, they were married in 1873 at Nottingham and went on to have the following children, Ethel b1875, Gertrude 1877, John b1879, Ben b1881, Thomas b1884, Annie b1889, Henry Burton b1895 and Mildred b1898 all were born in Nottingham. His father re married in 1912 at Nottingham to Florence Dobney born 1874 they went on to have further children, Clifford born 1910 and Stanley b1913. In the 1911 census his father is living at 29a Woodborough Road, Nottingham, he is shown as John Hutchinson 55 yrs a master builder, he is living with his second wife Florence 37 yrs and his children John 30 yrs a widow and journeyman builder, Harry 16 yrs a journey man builder, Mildred 13 yrs a scholar and Clifford 5 yrs of age It has not been possible to trace Ben on the 1911 census.

D Bty 113 rd Bde Royal Garrison Artillery
Corporal Ben Hutchinson enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Lenton, he served with D battery 113rd Brigade Royal Field Artillery, he was killed in action on 5th August 1917 and is buried in The Hut Cemetery
