Eldest son of Charlie and Emma Elizabeth Clark, of The Town Arms, Malin Hill, Nottingham. His brother, Lance Corporal Charlie Clark, 44th Royal Tank Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps, was killed in the Second World War on 28 November 1941, age 25, and is buried in Halfaya Sollum War Cemetery, Egypt.
Belonged to Dakeyne Street Lads Club (2nd Nottingham Boys Brigade). Death recorded in Boys Brigade Gazette Vol XXVI Edition 10 (June 1918).

Also commemorated on Sneinton St Stephen parish memorial (Clarke) and Dakeyne Street Lads Club memorial (destroyed) Nottingham Post obituary (abridged) 9 April 1918: CLARK killed in action March 27th, Sergeant SE (Teddy) Grenadier Guards, eldest son of Mr & Mrs C Clark, Hollowstone, Nottingham, age 21. Family headstone, Nottingham General Cemetery: (CLARK) also their dear sons, Samuel Edward, killed in action 27 March 1918, aged 21, and Charlie, killed in action 28 November 1941, aged 25 years. ‘To have, to love, to lose, and when God wills to find.’
