Person Details
Wallsend, Northumberland.
In the 1901 census Michael Lennon can be found living with his widowed mother, Mary Ann, and his younger brother, Francis, at 4 Dixon Street, Old Radford. Come the 1911 census it was just Michael and his mother at the same address. Francis has married Alice Dovey in 1905 and by 1911 they were living at 53 Bramcote Street, Radford. The family cannot be located in any earlier censuses. The local newspaper published an address for Michael Lennon when they reported his death: 92 Norwood Road, Radford. His mother, Mary Ann Lennon, died at Nottingham, aged 89, in 1929. The general register of births would appear to list Francis Lennon as Francis Lennen [the Prescott registration district in Lancashire] in 1881. Both the 1901 and 1911 censuses stated that Michael Lennon was born in Wallsend, Northumberland. However there is a similar listing in the birth indexes for a Michael Lennen [Prescott registration district] in 1878. So perhaps the family had already moved to Lancashire before they had the chance to register Michael’s birth in Wallsend.
