Charles Locke enlisted after 1 January 1916 and joined the battalion in France. Three of the men killed on 19th August 1917 are buried at Tyne Cot cemetery - graves LXIV.G1; G3 and Charles in G.4. At 8-30 pm on the 19th a heavy barrage targeted battalion HQ and one shell killed three machine gunners (Lewis gunners from battalion) and wounded a number of men. Charles was one of the machine gunners killed. John Morse
