Francis Charles Randall was the son of John Randall and Caroline Maria Firman who married at Nottingham in 1885. Their children included: John William (b.1886), Francis Charles (b.1891) and Wallace Bertrude (b.1892). The Randall family lived at: 23 Citadel Street, Radford [C.1891]; 360 Denman Street, Radford [C.1901]; 11 Graham Street, Radford [C.1911]. In 1902 Caroline Maria Randall died at Nottingham aged 39. John Randall then married Rosanah Evongeline Lloyd at Nottingham in 1905. The eventual announcement of his death in the Nottingham Evening Post gave Lance Corporal Randall’s home address as 51 Trafalgar Road, Radford [n.e.p.23.7.1915]. John Randall, who worked as a general labourer [C.1901 and a scavenger [C.1911], died at Nottingham, aged 64, in 1924.

He enlisted at Nottingham; at the time of the 1911 census he was a Drummer serving with the 1st Bn. Grenadier Guards who were based in London; killed in action; as his body was not recovered his name was added to the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, West Vlaanderen, Belgium.
