Mapperley, Nottingham
Born 1891 at Mapperley the son of Peter and Mary Crinage. His father was a domestic gardener. He was living at 92 Quernby Rd, St Anns Nottingham aged 2 months in 1891. In 1901 the family comprising Edgar, his parents, two sisters, a younger brother and a nephew and niece were living at Mansfield Street, Mapperley. By 1911 the family had moved to No 3 Asper Street in Netherfield. His sisters had left home but two older brothers including one who was now a widower were living with them. In all, Peter and Mary Crinage had ten children all of whom were still alive in 1911. Peter and his three oldest sons were all working as gardening labourers.

He was killed in action and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) memorial, Belgium. He was eligible for the Victory and British medals
Edgar's brothers Charles Richard born 1886 and Joseph W born 1881 also served in the army during the Great War. Joseph also died but Charles survived.
