Note :-- This is believed to be James Frederick Newham born in 1896 in Derby (there is no record of the surname Colbourne in any of his records) On the 1911 census he is living at 156 Boyer Street Derby with his mother Caroline which is his grandfather address (his father is not mentioned.) In fact this address comes to light again in 1919 as it is once again given by his mother when she completes a form giving details of his family after his death. James attested on 10th December 1915 at Arnold giving his age as 19yrs and 1 month and his address as Church Ave,Arnold and his occupation as automatic machinist.

He initially joins the Sherwood Foresters Regiment but is later transferred to the South Staffordshire Regiment and finally on 5th April 1918 to the 9th Battalion Norfolk Regiment with service number 41321. It is stated on his army service record that he died on service on 15th April 1918.
His name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot memorial
