John Pearson was born in 1887 at Arnold and was the son of Henry a frame work knitter and Lottie (Lucy ) Pearson née Holmes of 6 West Street, Arnold, Nottingham. His father Henry was born in 1857 at Daybrook, his mother Lucy Holmes was born in 1857 at Arnold, they were married in 1878 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had 7 children, sadly 2 died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were Thomas b1878, George b1885, John b1887, Henry b1890 and Emma b1893 all were born in Arnold. In the 1911 census the family lived at 6 West Street, Arnold and are shown as Henry 54 yrs a frame work knitter he is living with his wife Lottie (Lucy) 54 yrs and their children, John 24 yrs a frame work knitter, Henry 21 yrs a frame work knitter and Emma 18 yrs a hosiery factory hand. John married his wife Elizabeth Dring (born 1890) in 1916 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they lived at 18 Furlong Street and 7 Duke Street, both in Arnold, they had a daughter Irene born 1917 in Nottingham. Following his death his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings a week which commenced on 22nd April 1918.
He attended the British School and was employed as a framework knitter by Allen Solly & Co, Brookfield Road.

Corporal John Pearson enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 13896 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment and later transferred to (28209) 48th Coy Labour Corps He was killed in action 18th August 1917 in the Ypres salient and is buried at the Outtersteene Communal Extension Cemetery near Bailleul Grave Reference: I A 27
