Charles Percival Ulyett was born on 23rd May 1884 at Awsworth, he was baptised on 21st June 1885 at Ilkeston and was the son of Charles Steven Ulyett a farmer and Elizabeth Ulyett nee Franks. His father Charles Steven was born in 1859 at Lullington, Derbyshire, he died in 1886 aged 27 yrs, his mother Elizabeth Franks was born in 1860 at Blidworth they were married in 1882 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield registration district. Charles Percival married his wife Lydia Clark (born 8th July 1885 at Newthorpe) in 1909, their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they lived at Hawthorn Terrace, Blidworth and had the following children, Percy Douglas was born on 14th July 1909 and Ralph Stephen born 31st August 1912 both were born at Blidworth. In the 1911 census the family are living at Rock Terrace, Blidworth and are shown as Charles Percival Ulyett 26 yrs a life assurance agent, he is living with his wife Lydia 25 yrs and their son Percy Douglas 1 year of age. Following his death his widow Lydia was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence which commenced on 24th June 1918 and was increased to 37 shillings a week from the 4th October 1918.
In the 1911 census he is shown as a life assurance agent.

15th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Private Charles Percival Ulyett enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at Blidworth he served with the 15th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment attached to the 105th Trench Mortar Battery. He was killed in action 20th October 1917, age 33 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. Panel 99 to 102 and 162 to 162A.
