George Frank was born in Calverton in 1893 and was the son of John and Sarah Rose.John was born in 1854 and Sarah 1858 in the 1911 census the family lived at Burnor Pool, Calverton and George's occupation is shown as groom and he is 18 yrs of age. Also living at the same address are brothers and a sister,one brother being Walter Rose who is shown as being 13 yrs of age (Walter later dies during the war in 1916.)

George enlisted in Hucknall and served with the 110th Battery 24th Brigade,Royal Field Artillery, he was killed in action in France & Flanders. He is buried in St Sever Cemetery extension, Rouen, France.
His younger brother Walter also served and died in the Great War
