Basil Robert Streeten was born in 1889 and baptised on 30th June 1889 at Kingswinford, the son of the Reverend Robert Henry and Mary Frances Streeten née Crawford. Robert Henry was born in 1850 in London, Mary Frances Crawford was born in 1846 at Swinford, married on 5th September 1876 at Esher, Surrey they went on to have 10 children, 1 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 his parents and siblings were living at St Mary's vicarage, Kingswinford, Dudley, Robert Henry 61 yrs a clerk in holy orders is living with his wife Mary Frances 65 yrs in 1911 Basil Robert 21 yrs of age is a visitor at 24 Dean Road, Cricklewood, he is single and a student at Cambridge, he is visiting Arthur Allen 32 yrs an artist. His probate was proven on 3rd May 1919 in Kent he is shown as The Reverend Basil Streeten of Swinford Kent, died 1st November 1918 in France, his effects of £93, 0 shiillings and 4 pence were left to The Reverend Robert Henry Streeten.
He was educated at Hereford Cathedral School, St John’s College, Cambridge, MA and Wells Theological College. He was ordained in 1912 and served as a Curate at All Hallows Church, Gedling, Nottingham until 1918. He had only arrived in France the month before.

Army Chaplains' Department
The Reverend Basil Robert Streeten served with the Army Chaplains Department, he was attached to the 2/5th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers when he died on 1st November 1918 of pneumonia in France and is buried at Don Communal Cemetery, Annoeullin, France.
His name is also commemorated on the Sidcup War Memorial
