Edward Ernest Oldham was born in 1897 at Ironville and was the son of Joseph a brickmakers labourer and Harriett Oldham née Burrell of Dixie Street, Jacksdale. His father Joseph was born in 1868 at Weston, his mother Harriett Burrell was born in 1861 at Golden Valley, Derbyshire, they were married in 1890 their marriage was recorded in the Belper registration district, they had a further child a daughter Florence b1895 at Ironville. In the 1911 census the family are living at Dixie Street, Jacksdale, they are shown as Joseph Oldham 43 yrs a brickmakers labourer he is living with his wife Harriett 50 yrs and their children Florence 16 yrs a dress makers assistant and Edward 14 yrs an office boy. Edward married his wife Harriett Evelyn Brailsford in 1917 at Nottingham, they lived at 168 Main Street, Bulwell.

50th Divisional Ammunition Column Royal Field Artillery
Gunner Edward Ernest Oldham enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Bulwell, he served with the 50th Divisional Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery. He was taken prisoner of war on 22nd August 1918 and died on 14th October 1918, he is buried at Sedan (St Charles) Communal Cemetery 397, France.
