Samuel Alma Pryme was born in 1887 and was the son of Samuel Alma a coal miner hewer and Hannah Pryme née Huskinson. and the brother of Alma Pyme (killed in action 12/7/1916) and John Edward (killed in action 28/09/1917) of 3 Cursham Street, Sutton in Ashfield. Samuel Alma was born in 1854 at Sutton in Ashfield, he died in 1917 aged 64 yrs Hannah Huskinson was born in 1853 at Skegby, she died in 1908 aged 55 yrs they were married on 24th July 1877 in the Parish Church at Sutton in Ashfield, they went on to have 8 children, sadly three died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family lived at 3 Cursham Street Sutton in Ashfield. Samuel Alma is 57 yrs and is a coal miner hewer his is a widow and is living with two of his sons John Edward 17 yrs a coal miner horse driver and Alma 14 yrs a coal miner horse driver. Samuel married Edith Bray i(born 5th August 1889 at Skegby) n 1908 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield registration district, they had children, Annie Elizabeth b1909, Edith b1910 and Beatrice born 1914. In 1911 the family lived at 62 Station Road Sutton in Ashfield Samuel 24 yrs is a coal miner hewer He was discharged from the Army on 14th February 1919 his discharge address was 49 Portland Square, Sutton in Ashfield. Samuel died in 1965

Royal Field Artillery
Private Samuel Pryme enlisted on 8th February 1915 he served with the Royal Field Artillery and saw service overseas, he was discharged from the army on 14th February 1919 due to the effects of malaria and was issued with a silver war badge number B208298.
He has no cwgc reference as he did not die in the Great War. His two brothers John Edward and Alma were both killed in action.
