Henry House was born in 1896 at Syerston and was the son of William a farmer and Annie House née Hunt of Syerston village. His father William was born in 1861 at Brockenhurst, Hampshire and his mother Annie Hunt was born in 1860 at Brentwood Essex, they were married in 1893 at Southampton and went on to have 3 children, William b1895, Henry b1896 and Annie b1897 all were born in Syerston. In the 1911 census the family are living at Syerston village and are shown as William 50 yrs a farmer, he is living with his wife Annie 51 yrs and their daughter Annie 14 yrs of age. In the same 1911 census we find that Henry has left the family home and is living at North Rauceby near Grantham and is shown as being 16 yrs of age, single and a farm labourer, he is living with Alfred Trafford 40 yrs a farm labourer and his family.
In the 1911 census he is a farm labourer.

Private Henry House enlisted at Newark and served with the 11th battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers initially he had served with the service number 41097 in the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment). He was killed in action on 7th June 1917 and is buried at Lone Tree Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
