Edward Robert Misson was born in 1890 at Valetta, Malta and was the son of Ted an army soldier, he was baptised on 14th June 1891 at St Peters Church at Fulham. His father Ted was born in 1856 at Stetchworth Cambridge, and in the 1911 census he is shown living at Syerston village with his second wife Elizabeth Misson née Monks whom he married in 1902 at Newark, they are living with their son Reggie Brown Misson 7 yrs born Sibthorpe. In the 1911 census we find Edward Robert in the Army he is serving with the 1st battalion Duke of Cornwall's Light infantry in barracks at Gravesend, he is shown as being 24 yrs and single. His probate was proven on 24th October 1916 at Nottingham and shows him as Edward Robert Misson of Syerston, Nottinghamshire, a Private in His Majesty's Army, died on 16th September 1916, in France, his effects of 3138 pounds were left to Ted Misson a cottager.
He was a regular soldier serving with 1st Bn Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry in 1911.

Private Edward Robert Misson enlisted at Sheffiedl whilst residing at Hillsborough Sheffield, he served with the 7th battalion Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry and was killed in action on 16th September 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
