Corporal Thomas Edward Cox, [1] 7th Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment (Robin Hood Rifles), died of wounds 13th April 1918. He is buried in Meteren Military Cemetery.He is buried in Meteren Military Cemetery, Nord, France grave reference IV L 893
In memoriam published 12th April 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “COX. – In loving memory of our dear son, Corpl. T. E. Cox, Sherwood Foresters, 6 Clyde-street, died of wounds in France April 13th, 1918. Ever in our thoughts. An unknown grave 'tis a bitter blow. – From his sorrowing father, mother, and grandmother. “COX. – In dear and cherished memory of our dear brother, Corpl. T. E. Cox, who died of wounds April 13th, 1918. Dear is the grave where our brother is laid, sweet is the memory that will never fade; 'tis hard, but 'tis true we cannot tell why, the best are the first that are called in to die. – From Beatie, Irene, Elsie, and Albert.” Above in memoriam are courtesy of Jim Grundy and his facebook pages Small Town Great War Hucknall 1914-1918 Date given on family headstone for death is 11th April 1918 however CWGC give 13th April 1918, they also give his initials as G.F.
