James Albert Rayson was born in 1883 in Chilvers Coton, Nuneaton and was the son of John a railway signalman and Betsy Saunders Rayson née Eburne of 23 Bridge Street, Chilvers Coton Nuneaton. His father John was born in 1847 in Nuneaton and his mother Betsey Saunders Eburne was born in 1849 alsos in Nuneaton, they were married in 1875 in Nuneaton and went on to have the following children all born in Chilvers Coton, Florence Helen b1879, Charles b1882, and James Albert b1883. In the 1911 census his parents are living alone at 21 John Street, Chilvers Coton and are shown as John 64 yrs a railway signalman, he is living with his wife Elizabeth 61 yrs. James Albert married his wife Elizabeth Walmsley (born 1889 Lancaster )in 1910 their marriage was recorded in the Nuneaton Registration District they went on to have a son John Charles born 1910 In the 1911 census James Albert is living at 4 Jodrell Street, Nuneaton he is shown as being 27 yrs a dyers mate, he is living with his wife Elizabeth 22 yrs and their son John Charles under 1 year of age At the time of his death the family were living at 8 Winthorpe Terrace, Bathley Street, Meadows, Nottingham.
In 1911 he was a dyers mate at a dye works.

9th Bn Royal Warwickshire Regiment
Private James Albert Rayson, enlisted at Warwick served with the 9th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He first served in a theatre of war on 13th July 1915 in the Balkans and was killed in action on 10th August 1915 at Gallipoli . He is commemorated on the Helles Memorial.
