Arthur Harry Andrews was the son of Arthur Andrews & Kate Allen, who were married in Nottingham in 1898. His father worked as a hawker. There was one sister, Catherine (Kate), born in 1898. The family lived at 15 Sydney Street, Hyson Green before moving to 7 Ronald Street, Garibaldi Street, Radford, Nottingham.

Arthur Harry Andrews served with No. 1 School of Navigation & Bomb Dropping in the Royal Air Force at Amesbury, Wiltshire. He died there of pneumonia on 23rd October 1918 and his body was brought back to Nottingham for burial at the General Cemetery.
