George Bolton Willis was born in 1892 at Eastwood and was the son of Samuel John a domestic gardener and Elizabeth Willis née Bolton of 8 Cardigan Road Branksome Bournemouth. His father Samuel John was born in 1858 at Lamport, Northamptonshire, his mother Elizabeth Bolton was born in 1857 at Deeping, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1882 their marriage was registered in the Basford registration office, they went on to have the following children, John Samuel b1884, Charles Frederick b1889 both were born in Hampstead, George Bolton b1892 at Eastwood, Edith Daisy b1894 Hampstead and Mabel Elizabeth b1897 Willesdon. In the 1911 census the family are living at 8 Cardigan Road, Branksome, Bournmouth and are shown as Samuel John Willis 53 yrs a domestic gardener, he is living with his wife Elizabeth 54 yrs and their children, Charles Frederick 22 yrs a butchers assistant, George Bolton 19 yrs a butchers assistant, Edith Daisy 17 yrs a domestic and Mabel Elizabeth 14 yrs a scholar.
In the 1911 census he is a butchers assistant.

Hampshire Regiment
Lance Corporal George Bolton Willis enlisted at Bournemouth whilst residing at Branksome, he served with the 1/8th battalion Hampshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 194th April 1917 in Palestine. His name is commemorated on the Jerusal War Memorial, Israel
