Person Details
He was the son of John, a railway police inspector, and Elizabeth Loney of 68 Leslie Road Forest Fields Nottingham and later 21 Beacon Avenue Cleethorpes Lincolnshire. He was the brother of Annie, Edith and Frederick Loney.

1/5th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Second Lieutenant Robert Loney, 1/5th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, was killed in action on 1st July 1917. He had landed in France on 3rd March 1916 as a private soldier in the Robin Hood Rifles and was discharged to a commission on 27th March 1917.He has no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial
