Thomas was born in 1887, in Arnold, the son of Charles and Hannah Cooper. He is shown on the 1911 Census as being 24 yrs of age and living with his family at 27 Albany Road,Carrington and working in a bleachworks.
He was employed at a bleachworks

He enlisted into the Lincolnshire Regiment at Gainsborough. He spent some time in the hospital at Harpenden, which is where he died on the 8th December 1915 from Pneumonia. The Harpenden area was a favoured area for the holding and training of troops in readiness to send over to France, possibly Thomas had been hospitalised during this training prior to his battalion being sent to France.
He is buried in, Redhill Cemetery
