Arthur Lawrence Worman was born in 1895 at Nottingham and was the son of Walter a clerk in an advertising department and Maria Worman née Wyles of 60 Byron Road West Bridgford Nottingham. His father Walter Worman was born in 1855 at Stilton, Huntingdonshire, his mother Maria Wyler was born in 1856 at Little Ponton, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1877 their marriage was recorded in the Grantham Registration District, they went on to have 7 children, sadly 1 died in infancy, their surviving children were, Walter Cecil b1879 Rippingale, Lincs, Mabel Ellis b1883 Hoveringham, Hilda Sarah b1884 Hoveringham, Harry Dean b1887 Hoveringham, Constance b1890 Hoveringham and Arthur Lawrence b1895 Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 60 Byron Road, West Bridgford and are shown as Walter 56 yrs a clerk in an advertising department, he is living with his wife Maria 55 yrs ad their children, Walter Cecil 32 yrs a materials inspector, Constance 21 yrs a student and Arthur Lawrence 16 yrs an apprentice in the lace trade.

Lance Corporal Arthur Lawrence Worman enlisted on 2nd September 1914 at Nottingham, he gave his age as 20 yrs and 130 days, his address as 60 Byron Street, West Bridgford, Nottingham and his occupation as a lace warehouseman. His next of kin was his father Walter of the same address. He was posted to the Leicestershire regiment and joined them at their depot. On 24th September 1914 he was posted to the 8th battalion, Leicestershire Regiment. He landed in France on 29th July 1915 and was promoted to Lance Corporal on 19th December 1915. On 15th January 1916 he was admitted to the 48th Field Ambulance, France with a gun shot wound to his chest and lung and a further gun shot wound to his arm and thigh, he was transferred to the 10th General Hospital at Rouen where on the 18th January 1916 he died of his wounds. He is buried in St. Sever Cemetery, Rouen, Seine-Maritime, France (grave ref A.16.20) he had served for 1 year and 139 days.
