Isaac Taylor was born in 1896 he was the son of John Thomas a coal miner hewer and Elizabeth Taylor née Carter of Rambler Cottage, Clipstone Road, Forest Town. John Thomas was born in 1867 at Worksop, Elizabeth Carter was born in 1866 at Newcastle, Staffordshire, they were married on 18th October 1885 at St John's Church, Worksop they went on to have 8 children, sadly 2 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family are living at 11 Sixth Ave, Forest Town, John Thomas is 44 yrs and a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Elizabeth 45 yrs and 5 of their children including Isaac 15 yrs a coal cleaver on coal mine surface.
Coal Miner at Mansfield Colliery. Played football for Forest Town Methodist Church and was a member of St John's Ambulance Brigade.

Royal Army Medical Corps
Private Isaac Taylor enlisted on 11th August 1915 a Mansfield aged 19 years and 127 days he was a coal miner. He was posted to the Royal Army Medical Corps on 13th August 1915. He embarked from Southampton on 5th May 1916 and disembarked the following day at Le Harve. He was killed in action on 15th September 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
Mansfield Chronicle Advertiser, 19/10/1916: Memorial Service held praised for "his fine manly qualities and high Christian character." Report included letters from his commanding officer and corporal.
