He was the son of Abraham and Florence Levy and the brother of Mabel Annie, Florence and Hannah Amelia Levy. They lived at 76 Musters Road West Bridgford Nottingham. Arthur Levy was married. His wife Mary died in 1958, aged 71 and is commemorated on her parents’ grave, as is her husband, Lieutenant A H Levy. She is buried in Enderby, Leicestershire.
In 1911 he was an assistant in business.

From the London Gazette 28/10/1915: North. Midland Brigade. Cadet Arthur Herbert Levy, from the Nottingham University Contingent, Senior Division, Officers Training Corps, to be Second Lieutenant. The 232nd Brigade, Royal Field Artillery was a North Staffordshire Brigade, incorporating the 4th, 5th and 6th North Staffordshire Batteries.
