Known as 'Sonnie', Dinsdale John Arthur was the youngest child and only son of Dinsdale and Louisa Oubridge. Dinsdale and Louisa had four children: Grace Louise b. 6 September 1892, Constance Irene b 16 March 1894, Maude Millicent b. 1895 (J/A/S Nottingham) and Dinsdale John Arthur b. 3 July 1900. Dinsdale senior was born in London, and when he moved to Nottingham from Bristol was first a teacher but later joined the firm of JAS Burton & Sons, becoming a director of the company. In 1901 Dinsdale senior and his family were living at 94 Musters Road, West Bridgford, and this was still the family home at the time of his son's death in 1919. However, Dinsdale and Louisa later moved to The Firs, Attenborough, Nottinghamshire. Dinsdale Oubridge senior died in May 1934 at the age of 69; he was still living at The Firs, Attenborough. Louisa Oubridge died on 25 February 1948 aged 85. Of his sisters: Grace Louise married Herbert J Furse in 1917 (O/N/D Basford) and died aged 86 on 10 July 1978; she was then living at 171 Loughborough Road, West Bridgford. Constance Irene married Bernard Beardall in 1923 (A/M/J Shardlow) and died aged 102 in March 1996 (Mar Nottingham). Maude Millicent married John Bernard Mutch in 1926 (J/A/S Shardlow) and died on 7 June 1946 aged 50. She was then living at 4 Oundle Drive, Wollaton Park, Nottingham. Her husband survived her.

Cadet Dinsdale John Arthur Oubridge, Royal Air Force, suffered injuries while driving a motor cycle on duty and died after an operation on 8th February 1919. He was buried in Nottingham Church (Rock) Cemetery.
Notice of his death published in the Nottingham Evening Post on 10th February 1919: “OUBRIDGE. – On February 8th, Dinsdale John Arthur (sonnie), Cadet R.A.F., died in nursing home, Regent-street, Nottingham, aged 18 years, dearly beloved and only son of Mr. and Mrs. D.
