He was the son of Charles Taylor of 29A, Clumber Street, Nottingham. In the 1911 census he is a boarder at Southwell Grammar School, he is shown as being 15 yrs of age and a boarder.

Captain George Charles Taylor, Army Veterinary Corps, attached 26th Army Brigade Royal Field Artillery, was killed in action on 6th September 1918. He is buried in Sun Quarry Cemetery, Cherisy. Pas de Calais, France.
