In 1911 his father is living at The Limes, Chilwell, he is shown as Arthur Metheringham 49 yrs married a lace manufacturer, he is living with his children, Harold 17 yrs a lace draughtsman and Alice 8 yrs of age and a scholar.
He was a levers lace draughtsman.

38th Bn Machine Gun Corps
Private Fred Methringham enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Chilwell, he initially served with the service number 86832 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action whilst serving with the 38th battalion Machine Gun Corps and his name is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, France.
