Parents: Thomas Godfrey and Elizabeth Lees of Newstead House, Newstead. Brother, Harold. Clifford left his father £217 7s. 5d. in his will.
He attended Brunts School Mansfield from May 1907 until December 1913 with his brother Harold. Thomas was the colliery manager at Newstead Colliery. Member University College Nottingham OTC.
