Stephen Ewart Foster Locker was born in 1890 at Ilkeston and was the only son of Joseph Pickering Locker a labourer and the late Idonia Locker née Foster of 39 Barker Gate Nottingham. His father Joseph Pickering was born in 1864 at Newhall, Derbyshire and his mother Idonia Foster was born in 1865, they were married in 1889 in Nottingham and had their only child Stephen Ewart Foster. His mother Idonia died in 1890 at Basford she was 25 yrs of age. His father Joseph in 1910 re married Frances Clara Rogers born 1853 at Weston on Trent, In the 1911 census the family lived at 39 Barker Gate Nottingham and were shown as Joseph Pickering Locker 47 yrs a labourer, he is living with his wife Frances Clara Locker 58 yrs and his son Stephen Ewart Foster 21 yrs a book stall clerk.
In 1911 Foster was a book stall clerk.

B Bty 211th Bde Royal Field Artillery
Sergeant Stephen Foster Locker, served with “B” Battery, 211th Brigade Royal Field Artillery, he died of wounds on 22nd October 1918 and is buried in Delsaux Farm Cemetery, Beugny, France.Buried in (grave ref l.H.15)
