In 1901 he is living at 56 Stoney Street, Sutton in Ashfield, he is 25 yrs single and a hosiery cotton worker, he is living with his brother Cecil 18 yrs also working in the cotton trade, they are living with Arthur Gamble 35 yrs a cotton hosiery worker.

Private George Marriott enlisted at Sutton in Ashfield on 10th November 1915 and served with the 1/8th battalion, Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 16th April 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
