9th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Albert Mowbray first served in the 2/7th TF Battalion and then the 2/6th TF battalion and it is possible he moved to 9th battalion when the 2/6th was disbanded on 31 July 1918. The battalion had taken Sebourg early on 4th November 1918 and the villagers plied the men with food and drink. Later that day the men of 'C' and 'D' companies moved towards the ridge overlooking Sebourg and came under severe fire from enemy machine guns. Over fifty men died and thirty five, including Albert are buried in the small battlefield cemetery above Sebourg. Albert is buried in grave A.3., Sebourg British Cemetery. John Morse
