Raymond Harvey was born in 1897 at Normanton, Yorkshire, the son of William Henry and Eliza Ann Harvey (née Ball).
His father William Henry was born on 27 March 1868 in Nottingham, the son of William and Mary Marie Harvey. He was baptised at Sneinton St Luke on 16 August the same year; the family home was at Handel Street. His mother Eliza Ann was born on 16 July 1867 at Ilkeston, Derbyshire, the daughter of George and Mary Ann Ball. She was baptised at Ilkeston St Mary on 27 October 1867.
William Henry and Eliza Ann were married at Sneinton St Luke, Nottingham, on 31 March 1892. They had three children one of whom died in infancy. Their surviving children were William Henry b. 1893 Lee Brigg, Yorkshire, and Raymond b. 1897 Normanton, Yorkshire. They also adopted a child, Ethel b. 1889 Radford, Nottingham, whose surname was probably also Harvey (Ethel Harvey birth registered 1889 A/M/J Basford). All three children were baptised at Normanton All Saints, Yorkshire, on 14 April 1897. The baptismal record gave William senior's occupation as fish dealer
In 1901 the famliy was living on Carlton Street, Normanton, Wakefield: William, a colliery screener above ground, Eliza, Ethel (12), William (7) and Raymond (4).
By 1911 the family was living at 2 Grove Villas, Wilford Grove, Nottingham, and shown as William Henry 43 yrs, a salesman in a clothing store, Eliza Ann 42 yrs, Ethel a typist, William Henry a fitter's apprentice and Raymond an errand boy.
Raymond died in 1919 at 770 Woodborough Road, Nottingham.
The later CWGC record gives William and Eliza's address as 177 Bobbers Mill Road, Nottingham. However, in 1939 when the England & Wales Register was compiled, William (a retired salesman, Army & Navy Stores) and Eliza were living at 78 Haydn Road, Nottingham.
William died at 78 Hazelwood Road, Nottingham, on 31 January 1942. His widow Eliza probably died in March 1952.
