He was the son of Benjamin James and Emily Sarah Travers and the brother of Ernest John Travers. In 1911 they lived at 55 Sprules Road Brockley St Paul Deptford London. He was the husband of Charlotte Gertrude (née Philip) Travers of 21 Seaforth Road Westcliff on Sea Essex.
In 1911 he was a 2nd Class Inland Revenue clerk.
