Frederick Hitchcock was born on 16th January 1880 at Wellington, Somerset and was the son of George and Mary Jane Hitchcock née Buller. His father George was born in 1845 and his mother Mary Jane Buller was born in 1848 she died in 1902 aged 54 yrs, they were married in 1871 at Wellington and went on to have the following children, James b1881, Annie b1883, Herbert b1885, Joseph b1887 and William H b1890, all were born in Wellington. Frederick married his wife Ellie Holley on 27th March 1904 at Wellington, they went on to have a son Leonard born 1908 at Rotherham. In the 1911 census Fred is living with his family at 135 St Ann's Road, Rotherham, and are shown as Frederick Hitchcock 31 yrs an iron moulder at a foundry, he is living with his wife Ettie 32 yrs and their son Leonard 3 yrs. Frederick has stated that they have been married for 6 years and have had 3 children, one of which has died .
He was an iron moulder.

11th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment)
Private Frederick Hitchcock enlisted at Newark and served with the 11th battalion Sherwood Foresters, he landed in France on 20th July 1915, he was killed in action on 9th October 1918 and is buried at Busigny Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
a.k.a. ""H"" (not Frederick on both memorials). Unclear how PS has moved from H to F His brother William Hitchcock served as Private 96187 in the Machine Gun Corps , he was awarded a DCM and died on 21st November 1917 at Palestine, his name is commemorated on the Jerusalem Memorial.
