Person Details
Rotherham, Yorkshire
Herbert Bevington was born at 60 Healy Street, Rotherham on the 20 Feb 1895. He had a sister Lily born in 1899 at Rotherham. Their parents were Abraham and Charlotte Lily Bevington and in 1901 the family home was in Rotherham. The reasons are not to hand, but Herbert and his sister Lily were recorded as visitors in 1911, to the Booth family at 16 Houndry Lane Mexboro’, their parents being absent. He enlisted early in the war as he went to the Balkans on 28 Sept 1915. The next recollection of Herbert is in Darlington when he has a child born to Lilian Springett on 8 July 1917, who they name Nora and they marry about the same time at Darlington. He must have been sent to France immediately after as he died on the 20 Sept 1917. His widow re-married to William Longthorne at Darlington in 1921.
