Obituaries published 3rd January 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :-
“SIMPSON. – Killed in action, December 12th, Pte. Wilfred Simpson, Sherwood Foresters, dearly beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. Simpson, Chandos-street, Netherfield. Deeply mourned. He is not dead, but sleepeth. – Sorrowing mother, father, brothers, and sister.
“SIMPSON. – Killed in action, December 12th, Wilfred Simpson, Sherwood Foresters. One of the best. – Sadly missed by Jenny and all at 10 Conway-road.”
In memoriam published 12th December 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :-
“SIMPSON. – In loving memory of Wilfred, dearly beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. Simpson, Chandos-street, Netherfield, killed in action December 12th, 1917. A year has passed, our hearts still sore, as day by day we miss him more. – Deeply mourned by his sorrowing mother and father and brothers and sister, and Jenny.”
