He was the son of Abraham and Caroline Parkes and the brother of Henry and Ethel Parkes. In 1911, they lived at 89, Imperial Road, Beeston, Nottingham. He was the husband of Sophia (née Meller) Parkes who married Alick B Gunn in 1919. They lived at 4, Baron Street, Old Radford, Nottingham.
He was a lace maker.
