George was the son of William and Eliza Bostock. He was baptised at St Philip's church, Sheffield, on 23 February 1887. He married Annie Elizabeth Cutts in 1906 (O/N/D Sheffield) and in 1911 they were living on St Philip's Road, Sheffield. They had had three children of whom only two survived; George (2) and Hilda (2 months). Also in the household on the night of the census was a boarder, Ada Wall (17), who worked in a warehouse. At the time the CWGC records were compiled George's widow was living at 52 Powell Street, Sheffield.
In 1911 he was a chemist's porter.

He enlisted in Sheffield
7th Bn King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry
He was killed in action and is buried in Hooge Crater Cemetery (grave ref. XV.J.17). He qualified for the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
Registers of Soldiers' Effects: his widow, Annie Elizabeth, was his sole legatee.
