Charles George Moon was born in 1895 at Ilkeston, he was baptised on 23rd Decemebr 1895 at St Mary's Church, Ilkeston and was the son of Arthur Henry Moon a school master of Market Street, Ilkeston and Mary Tamar Moon née Gregory. His father Arthur Henry was born on 13th June 1862 at Mapperley Derbyshire, his mother Mary Tamar Gregory was born in 1874 at Ilkeston, they were married on 23rd July 1892 at the Parish Church at Heanor. His father Arthur Henry died on 9th August 1897 at Chapel near Hogsthorpe, Lincolnshire, (he died while bathing at Chapel St Leonards) His mother Mary went on to re marry in 1898 in Nottingham to John Brimston b1864 Radford a lace designer. In the 1911 census the family are living at Holmside, Gunthorpe and are shown as John Brimson 47 yrs a lace designer, he is living with his wife Mary Tamar 37 yrs and children, Gladys Lillian 21 yrs and Charles George Moon 15 yrs (stepson) a lace embroidery draftsman
He was a lace embroidery draughtsman.

24th Bn Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment)
Corporal Charles George Moon enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 24th battalion Royal Fusiliers, he landed in France on 15th November 1915. He was taken a prisoner by the Germans and died on 2nd May 1917. He is buried at Douai Communal Cemetery, Nord, France. H.15
