Seventeen year-old Pte. George Ernest Pollard, enlisted in Hucknall and served with the 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment, died of wounds on 8th August 1916. He is buried in Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbe.
