He was the son of Walter (killed in action 30/5/1915) and Elizabeth Turton and the brother of Thomas, Doris, Elizabeth, Florry and William Henry Turton. In 1911 they lived on Eastfield Side Suton in Ashfield. He was the husband of Florrie (née Betts) Turton of 13 Lime Street Sutton in Ashfield.
