Joseph Bowskill was born in 1861 at Mansfield he died in 1903 aged 42 yrs, Eliza Ann Dixon b1864 Mansfield Woodhouse died in 1903, they had 4 children, John b1881, Harriett b1893, William b1896 and Thomas Henry b1898 he died in 1903 In 1911 William is working at Hollow Farm, Skegby, he is shown as being 16 yrs and a cowman on a farm, he is living with Samuel Parsons 52 yrs a farmer.
He was a labourer.

Private William Bowskill enlisted at Mansfield on 17th November 1915, giving his age as 19 yrs and 340 days, and his occupation was that of a labourer he initially served with the service number 32397 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was wounded 12th November 1916 a gun shot wound to his leg. He was posted to the East Yorkshire Regiment on 1st April 1918 and was killed in action on 28th May 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial, France.
