In the 1911 census Thomas is shown as the nephew of Samuel and Alice Turner of 136 Victoria Road Kirkby in Ashfield. However CWGC states Son of Mrs. Alice Turner, of 136, Victoria Rd., Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottingham, and the late Samuel Turner. (possibly they were step parents. ) His pension record card shows Alice Turner was a his foster mother
He was a miner (hewer).
