He was the son of Wiiliam and Sarah Hill. He was the brother of Richard and Robert Hill. They lived at 11 Frederick Grove Nottingham. In 1911 he was boarding with the Merrett family at 14 Pinders House Road Crocus Street Meadows Nottingham. Horace married Florence Merrett in 1912.
In 1911 he was a carter.

3rd Bn King's Royal Rifle Corps
Rifleman Horace Claude Hill, served with the 3rd Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps, . He landed in France on 26th May 1915 and died of wounds at the 83rd Field Ambulance, Armentieres, on 26th June 1915. He is buried in Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres, Nord France, Grave Reference: IX B 14
