The family lived at 76 Kirkby Street, Arkwright Street, Meadows, nottingham.

10th Bn The Rifle Brigade (Prince Consort's Own)
Pte. Barnes was called up for service and following training he was drafted to France. The Rifle Brigade was involved in the fighting during the Battle of Cambrai, and Pte. Barnes was killed in action on 30/11/1917. His body was not recovered but his name was commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial at Louverval.
