Andrew Cheetham Hind was born in 1888 at Nottingham and was the son of Henry a joiner and Eunice Mary Hind née Cotton of 41 Willersley Street, Nottingham. His father Henry was born in 1854 at Bingham and his mother Eunice Mary Cotton was born in 1852 at Hemington, Leicestershire, they were married in 1883 at Nottingham, they went on to have 3 children, Henry Tinley b1883, Elizabeth b1885 and Andrew Cheetham b18888 all were born in Nottingham. In 1911 census the family are living at 41 Willersley Street, Meadows, Nottingham and are shown as Henry 57 yrs a joiner, he is living with his wife Eunice Mary 59 yrs and their children, Henry jnr 28 yrs a joiners assistant, Elizabeth 26 yrs milliners shop assistant. Andrew Cheetham Hind has not yet been trace on the 1911 census.

2/5th Bn East Lancashire Regiment
Private Andrew Cheetham Hind enlisted at Nottingham and initially served with the Sherwood Foresters, No. 80578, before being transferred to 2/5th Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment. He fought in the Third Battle of Ypres, but was killed on December 2nd 1917. and is buried at Ypres Reservoir Cemetery.
His brother Henry Hind enlisted at Nottingham on 10th October 1916, he was 33 yrs and 246 days old, his address was 41 Willersley Street, Nottingham, he was a joiner. He served with the Royal Army Medical Corps and was transferred to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment on 25th June 1917. He was discharged from the Army on 3rd December 1917 as being no longer physically fit for war service, he saw no service overseas. He was awarded a silver war badge number 494897.
